For about 10 years, Dario Giani has been engaged in research activities in the field of marine ecology and ecotoxicology, with a specific focus on the impact of microplastics on marine vertebrates and invertebrates. In 2020, he obtained a Ph.D. on the ‘Assessment of the presence of microplastics and their function as carriers for emerging contaminants in commercially relevant fish species.’ Over the past 4 years, he has participated in numerous Interreg Med and ENI CBC projects related to the monitoring and management of marine litter in marine protected areas and cross-border cooperation.
